Waste and Golf

This weekend I was flipping through the channels on the television and came across a PGA golf tournament. After watching for a couple of minutes I noticed that the entire event was sponsored by Waste Management. Waste Management is one of the largest waste handling companies in the United States. They tried to make this event "green" by using wind and solar energy. Also, sixty solar-powered trash compactors are on the course. They hold up to five times the waste of a typical container and can reduce related greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%. I thought this was a unique idea for Waste Management to sponsor a green golf tournament, because it is showing the people that they are trying to improve their methods of reuse and recycling.

This weekend we added a lovely blue recycling can to our room. As, the weekend flew by I noticed that the bin was filled. This is just one way to organize our recyclables, so that people don't just throw everything in the trash. I feel that when there is a recycling can available they will tend to use it.
